- Winner of the 2010 Longleaf Chapbook Poetry Prize
Friends, I had a hard time giving up the page proofs of my chapbook–I wanted to keep it in my hands and admire the cover and the reality of it all. I finally sent it off last week and the editor Michael Colonnese is completing the final edits.
Still have to return to the studio to clean up a few tracks for the CD of the poems with the musical stylings of Conjunto Kimbombo accompanying me. Very exciting stuff but have to turn over my attention to teaching for the next few days–classes begin on Monday!!
I’m teaching composition this fall and look forward to meeting the new students. There still is something very special about the first day back on campus. A curious blend of feelings envelope me on these new days of beginnings–anxiety, happiness, excitement and more.
Hoping you all happy beginnings.
